Our History Rescue Program is designed to help buildings that are endangered or abandoned. We strive to take action and help clean-up/restore these places by working with the owner. Actions could include anything from lawn maintenance, boarding up windows, cleaning out the inside, restoring signage to maybe one day bringing them back to life!

The Historic Poteau Library was built in 1936-1937 by the WPA. After being left abandoned and neglected for many years the Library became submerged in vegetation. Thankfully Tammy and Michael saw a vision for a wedding venue and snatched up the property to save it. They have made incredible headway already having the foundation secured, HVAC and electrical installed and sheetrocking mostly done. Michael will be down for a few months after having surgery and they desperately need volunteers to help with painting, landscaping, window framing and other things.
PLEASE RSVP by responding to this email!
There are many activities to participate in:
– Cleaning/sorting items
– Picking up trash/debris
– Painting
– Lawn Care
– Dusting
– And a few more things.
We will be bringing a lot of these items but if you can bring more supplies, brooms, towels, etc the more we can accomplish!
***Waivers must be signed before the event.
Volunteers must be over the age of 18 or be accompanied by a parent or guardian and must have a state issued ID when they arrive. ***These need to be checked against the waivers**
