Disney Jail

Disney Jail

City/Town:
Location Class:
Built: 1939 | Abandoned: ~1960
Status: Abandoned
Photojournalist: Eddie Crosby

The jail is Disney, Ok wasn’t the first jail and was not a quick agreement. The first jail in Disney consisted of a tree, chain, and padlock. Which probed a investigation by Mabel Bassett, the State Commissioner at the time, who protested the practice. She ordered that they either build a jail or transport their prisoners to the nearby city of Pryor.

It didnt take them much longer to submit the plans to Mrs. Bassett to which she approved them for a new jail in the town. A modern jail for the time of stones and steel bars was erected in 1939, it seems it was abandoned around 1960 when it was then replaced by a newer jail. The jail is now covered in foliage and sits in a back alley forgotten.
