The Vici Jail is one of my personal favorites. It is everything a textbook pioneer jail is. A concrete, barrel-roof, single-cell structure. It is also in the “ideal” jail location, where a lot of these tiny jails were located, right under the water tower. Some evidence suggests that the jail in Vici was built in 1931 but others suggest earlier than that with some articles referencing a “Vici Jail” back in 1915.
It seems like this jail might have stopped being used sometime around the 1940s. Newspapers in 1959 detailed work on a new jail had begun, “the old one has not been used for years” assuming they were talking about this one.
