Hidden behind tall brush and young trees is the Strang Jail. Forgotten by the community it used to serve. It is a prime example of my work to document these calabooses. Its history is kept only with the elders of the community, not in newspapers or books. And so it sits until it succumbs to the hands of nature or to a revitalization project by a new lover of history.
One can only hope that one day the large grass is cut back, a new coat of paint is put on it and the trees that shutter it from onlookers are taken down so that we don’t lose any more history.

Hi! A fellow Emily here. I love your articles! So much, I purchased a book, “Abandoned Oklahoma”. I found you while researching the TB sanatorium in Talihina, OK. My great grandfather is said to have been admitted there and passed. His burial is unknown. I was hoping to find his burial site.
