The 1930s were a time of great expansion for many rural schools in Oklahoma. The Wann Gym is a product of it. A gymnasium/auditorium, along with a classroom addition to the Wann School, was announced in 1938.  with a $23,000 price tag.

As a WPA project, progress was quick and nearing completion by the end of the year. After just a week longer of some interior finishes, the Wann gym/auditorium was officially open at the first of the year.

The new Wann Gym had solved a problem that had plagued the Wann School for years. Finally, having a proper facility to host sports events and programs. As an auditorium, it seats almost 600 people.

This gym is one of many scattered throughout the state examples would be Eagle City Gym, Oney Gym and many others.

From 1989 and a few years into the 1990s, talks and official acts to move towards consolidating the Wann school. After a successful consolidation effort the buildings of the campus became used only here and there. Sometimes for meetings, as a polling location and for the annual class reunion.

Played basketball there in early 1960’s. I was on a team from Terlton. Terlton has no school but the gym is still standing.
